I bought mine last year before reading the reviews here. Luckily I haven't had any clunking or vibration from mine that some of the reviewers mentioned. Mine has been very solid and I have no complaints. I chose it for the metal blades and crossed my fingers that it would sound like the old window fan that my grandmother had upstairs where I slept many weekends during summer months. For me, it's a very soothing and sentimental sound. I don't really consider it to be loud. Just not as quiet as plastic :)
